This Tuesday, some lucky fan will be jumping in a limo, wining and dining, enjoying front row concert seats and then meeting music icon Barry Manilow after the show: all because they placed the final bid and have been declared the winner of his recent charity auction.

The auction on Charityfolks.com for the NY concert Ultimate Manilow: The Hits…And Then Some was won at $3500.   The money raised goes to The Manilow Music Project as part of the Manilow Fund for Health and Hope, and will buy instruments and musical supplies for local public schools struggling to maintain their vital music programs.

The meet and greet with Barry Manilow for the charity auction winner includes VIP backstage passes and a photo with the music legend.

Vanessa Williams is among the philanthropists to be honored as the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation celebrates its tenth anniversary of Art For Life.

The theme for the evening of next month’s glamorous fundraising event is Old Hollywood, with classic black and white films inspiring the décor and fashion.   Proceeds go to the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation that establishes educational programs to allow underprivileged youth in New York exposure and access to writing, music, dance and visual arts.

Artists like Vanessa Williams and leaders in the industry also believe art transforms life, and next month the foundation’s anniversary gala celebrates their support and ten years of achievement.

Broadway Barks

July 11 will mark the 11th annual Broadway Barks, and the unique event sees stars of stage and screen, and New York pet-lovers join forces for charity.

The ‘dog and cat adopt-a-thon’ is hosted by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, and showcases pets from animal shelters, rescue centers and adoption agencies all over the city.   Festivities begin in Shubert Alley, and a host of theatre and movie celebrities will be presenting the dogs and cats that are up for adoption.

Supported by both Broadway Cares and the ASPCA, Broadway Barks unites homeless animals in New York with pet-lovers and new homes.

How much would you pay in a charity auction for a steak lunch with the second-richest man in the world, Warren Buffett?

With three days to go, the current bid is $100 100, and the lucky winner and seven friends get to lunch and talk shop with the billionaire investor at Smith & Wollensky steakhouse right here in New York.

Buffett’s late wife Susie introduced him to the non-profit Glide Foundation that provides housing, job training, health and child care, and food for those in need, and this key fundraising auction has become an annual event.

Last year’s auction of power lunch with Warren Buffett raised a record $2.11 million for the charity.

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake and Jamie Foxx swapped professions for an afternoon this week to pay tribute to the charity works of their boss.

Record label president Barry Weiss was acknowledged for his contributions by The UJA Federation of New York at a charity luncheon. The organization cares for those in need across the world, and supports Jewish education programs.

While Jamie Foxx the stand-up comedian sang, it was Justin Timberlake making the jokes for the UJA charity event.

Singer John Legend hosted a gala benefit dinner for his charity Show Me this week, and treated his New York guests to a special performance.

Legend is passionate about his music, but also about the fight to end world poverty. Show Me is a campaign that offers sustainable development to struggling communities and the artist explained to his guests “Our organization by itself can’t do it, but we believe we can be part of the solution and we don’t want to wait around for everybody else to do it”.

Legend’s New York benefit dinner raised over $300 000 through a private auction on the night.
