The Oprah Winfrey Show, Brothers and Sisters and One Life to Live were just some of the shows honored at the weekend’s New York GLAAD Awards.

The ceremony attracted guests, presenters and honorees including Cynthia Nixon, Joy Behar, Sandra Bernhard, Nigel Barker and Jay Manuel.

The GLAAD Awards were on 13 March.

Nick Jonas is promoting Do Something’s March Battle of the Bands.

March is Music In Our Schools month and as part of that, bands will have the chance to upload their videos and get discovered.

A handful of celebrities will judge the winning entries.

Battle of the Bands submissions will be taken up until 16 April.

Hilary Duff is writing a non-fiction book to help support kids coping with divorce.

The young actress is also working on a series of fictional books, and has already written about her experiences with her own parents divorce.

LOS ANGELES, March 3, 2010 – Songwriter/Producer Linda Perry and Impresario/Event Producer Brent Bolthouse will join the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center ‘An Evening with  Women: Celebrating Art, Music & Equality’ on Saturday, May 1 in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. A magical evening that rocks with music while it shimmers with elegance, ‘An Evening with Women’ will feature silver screen stars Renée Zellweger (Bridget
Jones’s Diary, Chicago) and Gina Gershon (Bound, Showgirls) and music industry giant Heart, with additional talent to be announced.

The star-studded evening includes dinner, a show and a large silent auction featuring incredible travel and entertainment packages and much more. Known for years as L.A.’s premiere event for lesbians, bisexual women and their supporters, the annual event reached new heights last year under the direction of Perry and Bolthouse, both of whom took on the role of event co-chairs alongside veteran co-chairs and Center board members Kelly Lynch and Annie Goto. This year, Shannon Del joins as a co-chair.

Perry – writer and producer for artists such as Christina Aguilera, Pink, Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys as well as CEO of record label Custard Records (James Blunt, Reni Lane, Little Fish, Crash Kings, Bigelf) -first became involved with the Center in 2006, when she performed at Women’s Night (the previous incarnation of ‘An Evening with Women’) and brought special guests Courtney Love and Billy Corgan to perform with her. In 2008, Perry was recognized with the ‘Creative Integrity Award’ at the event.

“The Center is such an important part of our community and I am drawn to their
amazing work,” Perry says. “We are all incredibly dedicated to making this event the best yet, and I’m excited about the support from the entertainment industry whose contributions will help raise necessary funds to directly benefit the Center and their programs.”

‘An Evening with Women’ benefits the Center’s services for women – including legal assistance, domestic violence services and cultural arts programs – but the night is also an
opportunity to recognize lesbians and bisexual women who make a difference in the community through the Center’s community awards.

“I think of this incredible night as a fun and inspiring celebration of women as artists, creators, leaders and innovators,” Goto says. “Many grassroots activists and risk-takers

Joan Rivers is just one of the Honorary Chairs for the 24th Annual Night of a Thousand Gowns.

The Charity Ball with a silent auction is being held to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The evening will feature an open bar, dinner, dancing, Broadway style entertainment, a dessert buffet, midnight coronation and more.

Get ‘Up Close and Personal with Alan & Marilyn Bergman’ at The Actor’s Fund Musical Monday event featuring Maureen McGovern and Lari White.

The evening will celebrate the two celebrated lyricists, and feature performances followed by a coffee and dessert reception with the performers.

Musical Monday is on 15 March.

Meet the stars of The View in a charity auction raising funds for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Lucky bidders will be VIP audience members for a taping of The View, featuring Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd.

After the show, the winning bidder will meet the women of the popular panel.
